A new pale creamy species of Gymnopus(Omphalotaceae) from tropical Hainan Island of China

A new species Gymnopus cremeoalbidus, is described from tropical forests in Hainan province of China. The new species is characterized mainly by its convex to almost applanate shaped, whitish to creamy pileus, tomentous stipe and ellipsoid to sublacrimoid basidiospores. Gymnopus cremeoalbidus should be a member of G. sect. Vestipedes, based on its pileipellis a simple cutis with rarely and weakly diverticulate terminal elements and lamellae edge usually sterile with well-differentiated cheilocystidia Detailed description, field photos, illustrations of microscopic characters and phylogenetic tree based on ITS sequences are presented,morphologically and phylogenetically similar species are compared.
