“About48percentofthisreductionwasassociatedwithimprovementsinriskfactors,soforinstancetherewasareductioninbloodpressureandtotalcholesterol,andinsmoking,”hestated.

Rightnow,ascaleisoneoftheonlywaystomonitorpatients.Peoplewithheartfailuretendtogainweightbecausefluidsbuildupwhentheheartcan’tpumpenoughblood.Butmoni-toringweightisnottheidealwaytomonitortheheart.
“Dailyweightchangeisinsensi-tiveatpredictingepisodesofworseningheartfailure,”Dr.Abrahamsaid.
