论文摘要
<正>Protein translocation through a protein-conducting channel, SecY/Sec61, is a universal cellular process in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. In prokaryotes, the SecY channel cooperates with an ATPase, SecA, to move the secretory proteins across the membranes after protein translation. It was unclear how the SecA-SecY complex translocates its highly diverse protein substrates. We assembled a protein translocation intermediate consisting of SecA, SecY, and a polypeptide substrate, and determined its cryo-electron microscopy structure in the lipid
